Almost 80% of natural products are produced into dried fruit with different flavours such as mango, pineapple, cashew nuts, sesame, peanuts, palm sugar, beans, raisins, pumpkin, turmeric, and cassava. Svay Angkor Enterprise was established to support farmers by the distribution of locally harvested organic fruits from different provinces of Cambodia and Cake. Svay Angkor aims to maintain the freshness and best organic quality of the Cambodian dried fruits market.
‘’In 2014 when I moved to Siem Reap, I immediately noticed that it is a major tourist destination, packed with many ethnicities’’ said Ms. Ngy Sovanthida,owner of Svay Angkor Enterprise. Tourists come to Siem Reap and buy souvenirs for their family and friends upon their return. Local products including home appliances and beverages are the most popular items. At the same time, there are many foreign owned companies that have utilized the resources in Cambodia as a business opportunity.
Ms. Sovanthida added ‘’I asked myself, why we as Cambodians could not see the benefits?’’ Therefore she decided to hold her work and started researching more about the new business; as a result Ms. Sovanthida has created dried fruits and biscuits respectively.
