Siem Reap, Cambodia – November 20, 2023 – École d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme Paul Dubrule (EHT) has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag – EcoCampus certification by the Foundation of Environmental Education (FEE).
This recognition signifies EHT’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its leadership in promoting eco-friendly practices within the hospitality and tourism industry, being the first TVET school in the world and the first school in Asia to achieve this realization.
The Green Flag – EcoCampus program is an international environmental accreditation that recognizes and rewards schools, colleges, and universities that demonstrate excellence in environmental management and education. Since its initiation two years ago as a student-led project, EHT has undergone a rigorous evaluation process, assessing its environmental policies, initiatives, and curriculum. The school stands out for its holistic sustainability approach, incorporating initiatives such as efficient supply chain management, carbon footprint reduction, pollution control, and waste management, moving beyond the specifics of composting alone.
“We are incredibly proud to receive this prestigious certification,” said Mr. François Schnoebelen, Director of EHT Paul Dubrule. “Sustainability is at the core of our educational philosophy, and we are committed to embedding eco-friendly practices into every aspect of our operations. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students.”
EHT’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its campus. The school is actively involved in promoting eco-friendly practices within the local community, and it has partnered with several organizations to develop and implement sustainable tourism initiatives.
“EHT Paul Dubrule is setting a shining example for other schools and businesses in Cambodia,” said Mr. Pramod Kumar Sharma, Senior Director of Education at the Foundation of Environmental Education. “The Green Flag – EcoCampus certification is a well-deserved recognition of the school’s outstanding contributions to environmental sustainability.”
EHT’s Green Flag – EcoCampus certification is a significant milestone in the school’s journey towards becoming a leader in sustainable hospitality and tourism education. The school is committed to continuous improvement and will continue to implement innovative initiatives to further reduce its environmental impact and promote sustainable practices within the industry.
