ICONE Program Promotes Innovative Local Food Products

The ICONE program, aimed at promoting innovation and enhancing the competitiveness of national enterprises, supported the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Commerce in hosting a product launching event and technical workshop on “Best Practices in Local Food Production” on February 25, 2023. The event was part of the 16th Cambodian Fruit and Vegetable Product Fair.

Through the ICONE program, participating food and agro-processors received essential information and ideas for better product research and development, integration of technology and digital solutions, and improved access to a wider market. The recent event provided a platform for selected entrepreneurs to receive technical consultancy in launching their product to gain recognition for their brand and access a wider market.

The exhibition, which took place from February 24th to 27th at the Siem Reap City Square and Park, featured eight newly developed products, processed foods, and consumer goods made mainly in Siem Reap Battambang or Banteay Meanchey. The event was opened by H.E Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce, who was joined by relevant authorities, provincial producers, and traders.

Producers had the opportunity to connect with potential buyers and distributors through a B2B business matching event and gain firsthand feedback from potential customers and investors. The event provided a platform for innovative food producers to showcase and launch their newly developed products, as well as to foster exchange on best practices in local food production.

This event has contributed to boosting local production and facilitating the launching of new products from Cambodian farmers and producers. By providing support to local entrepreneurs, the ICONE program is helping to elevate the quality of local food production and enhance the competitiveness of national enterprises.
