Siem Reap, Cambodia – February 19, 2025 – GIZ ICONE, in collaboration with the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and the Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Association (CWEA), recently hosted a workshop on “Entrepreneurship in Tourism: From Opportunity to Profitable Business”, at The Sanctuary Residence in Siem Reap. This interactive workshop aimed to equip aspiring and established tourism entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools to thrive in the dynamic tourism sector. Participants explored current tourism trends, identified business opportunities, and developed sustainable business models.

The morning session highlighted understanding the tourism market, emphasizing key opportunities for entrepreneurs. The session also covered the increasing importance of digital marketing for business promotion in today’s digital age. Participants further learned about the importance of engaging with investors, partners, and stakeholders to foster growth and collaboration. Inspiring case studies of successful tourism entrepreneurs were also shared, providing real-world examples of how to overcome challenges and achieve success.

The afternoon session focused on various business models, defining a Unique Selling Proposition (USP), cost structures, financial sustainability, and a hands-on business model development exercise. This practical approach allowed participants to apply their knowledge and develop actionable strategies for their own ventures.

“I gained valuable insights into developing a robust business model for my tourism venture,” said Mengly Phat, a local entrepreneur. “The hands-on exercises and case studies were particularly helpful.”
