Investing in business opportunities is commonly believed to require in-depth statistical analysis to inform investment decisions. While understanding business is traditionally considered the best way to determine investment feasibility, spatial awareness can be crucial in discerning when and where investments may be most effective for given markets. As such, using geographical information systems (GIS) to manage investments is becoming increasingly popular.
For instance, the Banteay Meanchey province of Cambodia is one of the pioneering provinces for leveraging a GIS database to facilitate data-driven decision-making for domestic and international investment initiatives within the region. To better democratize their data for investors and inhabitants alike, the Provincial Administration of Banteay Meanchey has begun an ongoing process of enabling access to data.
We are pleased to announce that on the 13th of February, 2023, GIZ celebrated the handing over of an investment website powered by GIS technology to the Provincial Administration of Banteay Meanchey. This website is a significant step forward in data democratization, providing a detailed overview for investors of the most suitable areas for investment. Present during the website handover ceremony were H.E. Oum Reatrey, Provincial Governor of Banteay Meanchey, Dr. Stefan Hanselmann, Head of GIZ ICONE program, and Dr. Sadroddin Alavi Panah, GIS integrated expert, who each discussed the potential capabilities of this groundbreaking investment website.
